Ken Parker, Pastor

Ken began his ministry as pastor in March, 2000, after serving at LifeWay Christian Resources for almost 22 years. Prior to coming to Nashville, Ken served as Associate Pastor at Richey Street Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Ken was born, raised, and educated in Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from Lamar University and his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary. Ken and his wife Kay have two adult children, Amy Brooks, who serves as Oak Valley’s Minister of Youth, and Nathan, who is Minister to Senior High Youth at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Franklin.  Ken’s goal is to be the kind of shepherd that enables Oak Valley to be the people God calls them to be.

Amy Brooks, Youth Minister

Amy came on staff in 2002 on a part-time basis. In 2005 the church asked Amy to serve in a full-time role. Amy earned her Bachelors Degree in religion from Belmont University and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee’s School of Social Work. Prior to coming to Oak Valley, she served as youth minister at First Baptist Church of Ridgetop, Tennessee. She also served on LifeWay’s Centrifuge staff for three summers. Besides her formal training in youth ministry and her ministry experience, Amy brings a heart that longs to see youth honor Christ in their daily walk.

Kim Bridges, Minister to Preschool & Children

Kim is the newest member of Oak Valley’s Staff, having been called to Oak Valley in January 2012. Before arriving at Oak Valley Baptist Church, Kim served in childhood ministry in several capacities in churches in Georgia and Tennessee and also serves as a Children’s Ministry Consultant for the Tennessee Baptist Convention. She is a native of Florida, making her home in Georgia after graduating from Florida State University, then relocating, with her husband, Greg to Tennessee in 2003. She and Greg have been active in the Tennessee Baptist Convention and their local Baptist associations.

Kim’s desire is to see children and families have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; to learn and know God’s Word; to teach children to serve God and others; and to minister to families in a  way that encourages them to make the home the primary place their children grow spiritually.
