Blanket Ministry

OVER 11,900. BLANKETS MADE AND DELIVERED IN 8 YEARS!

Lynda Buchanan was a part of a home sewing group in 2011 that decided to make blankets for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Centennial Hospital. A grandson of a friend in the group, Thomas McGregor, had passed away there. For 4 years the group averaged 1200 blankets a year. In 2014, the Blanket Ministry began their work at Oak Valley. Forty volunteers meet four times a year and do 1600 blankets every year. That is over 11,900. blankets over the years. In between church workdays many volunteers take blankets home to sew, wash, and iron. The church has included this ministry in their budget since 2015 which is approximately half of the cost that is needed so the ministry is dependent on donations from those moved by the Lord. Lynda feels very blessed for both the budget amount and the donations the ministry receives. She is very grateful to the church members for their financial help, physical support, and hard work.  At each Blanket Ministry workshop they prepare over 400 blankets that Lynda brings to the hospital by the next day. A beautiful reflection of God’s love in these volunteers!

ANOTHER 450 BLANKETS WERE SEWN AND PREPARED AT THE LAST WORKSHOP ON APRIL 22ND, 2019.

THE NEXT BLANKET MINISTRY WORKSHOP IS SCHEDULED MONDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, 2019 FROM 9:30 AM TO 2:00 PM IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL.  LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED! PLEASE FEEL FREE TO JOIN THEM!

“He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them”. Mark 10:16
